Anthony Albanese says Helen Haines remains in critical condition | ABC NEWS
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says Indi MP Helen Haines remains in a critical condition after she was hit by a car in Wangaratta on Monday afternoon.
He says Haines was getting something out of the boot of her car when eyewitnesses saw the Toyota LandCruiser conduct a U-turn and hit the MP, which he believes was a "deliberate act".
A 43-year-old man from nearby Tarrawingee has been detained by Victoria Police following the incident yesterday afternoon.
Speaking to ABC News Breakfast, the prime minister says it's not
clear at this stage what the motivation behind the alleged attack was.
