Quite possibly one of the most HONEST people I've ever met, Shefali Shah had my jaw on the ground so many times throughout this interview.
Shefali has built her career refusing to be background in someone else’s story. She’s turned down roles that reduce women to relationships and has always pushed one question to the front: who is she, beyond who she belongs to? In doing that, she’s quietly been giving women permission to step outside the expectations written for them.
Here’s what struck me about Shefali. The woman who is unapologetic on screen used to tie her self-worth to whether she landed a lead role or not. The woman who prioritizes her relationships with her girlfriends once didn't set boundaries for herself. The woman who tells others not to rush into marriage worked hard at being the perfect good girl so she could one day be the perfect good wife.
That’s not a contradiction. That’s what it looks like to unlearn the rules you were raised with. Messy. Non-linear. Honest. And in that honesty, she creates space for other women to do the same... to question, to push back, to not meet every expectation placed on them.
She said something I keep coming back to: we teach women to be defined by their roles... wife, mother, daughter. But the moment you see yourself only through those labels, you stop asking the most important question. Not what do I owe everyone else, but who am I when no one is watching?

[\I sat down with Anil Kapoor and I wasn't expecting it to go this deep.
We started talking about what it was like growing up, watching his dad get let down by an industry that once celebrated him and then didn’t. That moment stayed with him. It shaped his drive, his sense of responsibility, and the pressure he carried... not just to succeed, but to provide for everyone around him.
Then we got into his daughters... two of the most fearless, outspoken women in Indian cinema today. He brushed off any credit. But as we kept talking, a pattern emerged: every answer pointed to someone else. His dad. His wife. His kids. Never himself.
So I called it out.
What followed was one of the most honest conversations I’ve had on this show... about being a girl dad before it had a name, the tension between providing and being present, and what it costs to give everything to everyone without ever asking what you want in return.

There’s a version of Kajol the world knows: iconic films, unforgettable characters, timeless moments. This conversation is not just that.
When Kajol sat down with me, she was completely unapologetic. We talked about starting in the industry at 16 with no plan, the difference between her generation and Gen Z and why too much information might be making it harder to know what you want.
Now raising kids in a completely different world, she opened up about parenting a Gen Z daughter, the pressure young girls face today and how motherhood forced her to learn one of the hardest lessons: to stop talking and start listening.
We also revisited some of the most iconic films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... and let me tell you, she did not hold back. From laughing through emotional scenes to unpacking complicated family dynamics, to admitting what she’d actually change if those scenes were shot today… we got into all of it.
If you grew up watching her, this will hit you in a completely different way.

There's a version of Nora Fatehi the internet has decided on. This conversation is not that.
When I sit down for these conversations at Shame Less, I always expect honesty — but when Nora sat down with me, she gave us everything, and I mean EVERYTHING. We talked about growing up in Toronto, feeling pulled toward India with no connections and no plan, and how she didn't just show up and hope for the best — she studied, she strategized, and she outworked everyone in a room that wasn't built for her. She got into what growing up without her father did to how she loves, what feminism actually means to her beyond the headlines, and what she really thinks about men. All of it, unfiltered.
If you think you know her, watch this. You don't.

She’s a doctor, an actor, a writer, and an unapologetic truth-teller!
In this episode, Trinetra Gummaraju opens up like never before... on everything from navigating dating as a trans woman to the mental toll of representation, and the wild things people still believe about gender. We talk about shame, allyship, love, and how exhausting it is when the world demands your trauma to feel moved.
If you’ve ever questioned your identity, struggled with being seen, or wondered what real allyship looks like…this one's for you.

This convo hit HARD. And it's uncomfortable. Which is exactly why we need to talk about it! Richa Chadha and I discuss something too many people stay silent about: the fact that almost every woman we know has been groped, harassed, or assaulted.
That’s not rare. That’s a system. And instead of fixing the root cause, we keep telling women to “be careful” while ignoring the real issue: the way we raise our boys.
If you’ve ever said “not all men”… this is for you.If you’ve ever felt unsafe just existing... this is for you too.

This episode is for every man who’s ever been told to “man up.”I sat down with writer and mental health advocate Nikhil Taneja to talk about something we don’t talk about enough: how the patriarchy is hurting men too!
From emotional repression to performative masculinity, we unpack how outdated ideas of manhood are leaving so many men feeling lost, disconnected, and alone... and what real strength and healing actually look like.
We cover:
-Why vulnerability is a superpower
-What healthy masculinity really looks like
-How pop culture has failed our boys
-And why men need safe spaces just as much as women do

This tiny tube has me in a CHOKEHOLD 😂😩 Tell me I’m not the only one!
Hands down the most honest speech I’ve ever delivered in my career. And I’ll continue the honesty here 👇🏽
This has been one of the hardest years of my career as a creative.
There have been so many moments where I’ve questioned whether I belong. Whether my voice matters. Whether the stories I want to tell are “commercial” enough. Whether I should make myself smaller, safer, more familiar. Entertaining is 10% of my job, the mental gymnastics make up 90%.
I’ve gotten so used to doing what I call a “whitewash pass” on my scripts before sending them out. I’ll remove Punjabi or Hindi words. I’ll change names. I’ll soften cultural references. I’ll catch myself wondering if a character needs to be South Asian at all. Not because I want to tell a different story, but because it feels like it might be the only way to get someone to read it. And I am waiting for someone to prove me wrong… any day now.
That’s a heartbreaking realization to have as a writer. Not to mention, as an actor, it’s so sad that my friends and I literally have conversations like, “okay if they already have that supporting role as a person of colour, then I probably don’t have a chance because they won’t have two POCs, right?”
I know I’m not the only creative who feels exhausted right now. It can feel like every “no” is trying to convince you that your perspective is too specific, too different, or too risky.
Please don’t confuse the limitations of a system with the limitations of your talent.
Your story is worthy.
Your voice is worthy.
And every time you choose to keep creating anyway, you’re making it a little easier for the person who comes after you.
And that’s what I’ll do. I’m going to keep pushing. It is so exhausting and mentally taxing… but I feel so strongly I must continue.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to audition for a role that is literally written as a white man in the script. Wish me luck!!! Fingers crossed lmao 😩
Evidence is irrelevant. Context is unnecessary tbh 💁🏽♀️
I fear we’ve been gaslit by the concept of time. 😂
I actually made this video for myself. Let me keep it 💯
At the beginning of 2026, I set a bunch of huge goals. Somewhere along the way, I accidentally attached a countdown clock to every single one of them. I wasn’t just chasing the goal. I was chasing the idea that if I didn’t accomplish it this year, somehow I would be too old. Or it’ll be too late. Or I’ll be “past my prime.”
This week I had what genuinely felt like a groundbreaking realization: If I don’t accomplish a goal this year… I can accomplish it next year.
I know. Revolutionary. 😅 But straight up, this thought didn’t even occur to me.
Instead of feeling excited about chasing my dreams, I’ve been making myself anxious because I believed there was an expiration date attached to all of them. Instead of the passionate hustle I love, I’ve been living in a state of fear.
Why have we accepted the idea that our careers, our bodies, our relationships, our skin, our dreams, and our lives all have this invisible countdown attached to them? Like respectfully, eff off.
I don’t want to live like that anymore.
I still have huge goals. I still want to work incredibly hard. But I refuse to believe my potential expires because another birthday or year passed.
If I book the role next year instead of this year, amazing.
If I sell the show later, great.
If I reach a goal five years from now instead of five months from now, who exactly decided that was a failure? I’M DONE BULLYING MYSELF.
I’m officially withdrawing from the imaginary race.
If you needed permission to do the same, this is it. ❤️
Love you sisters 🫂
