Lilly SinghQuite possibly one of the most HONEST people I've ever met, Shefali Shah had my jaw on the ground so many times throughout this interview.
Shefali has built her career refusing to be background in someone else’s story. She’s turned down roles that reduce women to relationships and has always pushed one question to the front: who is she, beyond who she belongs to? In doing that, she’s quietly been giving women permission to step outside the expectations written for them.
Here’s what struck me about Shefali. The woman who is unapologetic on screen used to tie her self-worth to whether she landed a lead role or not. The woman who prioritizes her relationships with her girlfriends once didn't set boundaries for herself. The woman who tells others not to rush into marriage worked hard at being the perfect good girl so she could one day be the perfect good wife.
That’s not a contradiction. That’s what it looks like to unlearn the rules you were raised with. Messy. Non-linear. Honest. And in that honesty, she creates space for other women to do the same... to question, to push back, to not meet every expectation placed on them.
She said something I keep coming back to: we teach women to be defined by their roles... wife, mother, daughter. But the moment you see yourself only through those labels, you stop asking the most important question. Not what do I owe everyone else, but who am I when no one is watching?

[\I sat down with Anil Kapoor and I wasn't expecting it to go this deep.
We started talking about what it was like growing up, watching his dad get let down by an industry that once celebrated him and then didn’t. That moment stayed with him. It shaped his drive, his sense of responsibility, and the pressure he carried... not just to succeed, but to provide for everyone around him.
Then we got into his daughters... two of the most fearless, outspoken women in Indian cinema today. He brushed off any credit. But as we kept talking, a pattern emerged: every answer pointed to someone else. His dad. His wife. His kids. Never himself.
So I called it out.

Four astronauts came back from space alive. But did they come back as human beings?
«Lunar Rainbow» is a Soviet science-fiction film directed by Andrei Ermash, adapted from the novel of the same name by Sergei Pavlov. Across different regions of the Earth, mysterious «black traces» are recorded — zones of magnetic disturbances and atmospheric anomalies. The Space Security Commission, led by Galbraith (Vasily Livanov) and Nikolsky (Yuri Solomin), establishes the link: the «traces» appear near the four survivors of a catastrophe in orbit around Uranus — cosmonauts who have acquired inexplicable paranormal abilities.
One of them — Norton (Vladimir Gostyukhin) — refuses all contact with the scientists. The Commission sends his brother-in-law, agent Poling (Igor Starygin), to negotiate. An investigation begins where science, ethics and fear of the unknown clash openly.

Roshchin leaves for the Volunteer Army and separates from Katya, but finds no peace, witnessing the limited lives of the officers, now turned into punitive forces. Telegin hasn't yet found his place in life. And his relationship with Dasha isn't going well, especially after the death of their child. So they decide to separate for a while. Doctor Bulavin, Katya and Dasha's father, has become an assistant minister in the Samara Socialist Revolutionary government. The Civil War changed the lives of all the characters in the film's narrative. While defending Tsaritsyn, Red Army commander Telegin was seriously wounded. In the hospital, he met Dasha. After his recovery, the young couple joined the Red Army together. Meanwhile, Roshchin deserted from the front, searching everywhere for Katya. From Yekaterinoslav, he ended up in Gulyai-Pole, where Father Makhno lived. The sailor Chugai persuaded Makhno to join the Bolsheviks against Petliura.
Soviet power was established in Yekaterinoslav, but it didn't last long. During an unequal battle with Petliura's forces, the ataman's wife, Marusya, was killed, Makhno managed to escape, and Roshchin was wounded. After recovering, he was assigned to the headquarters of a cadet brigade and accepted the new government without hesitation. Only worry about Katya connected him to his past. And Katya, having gotten rid of the scoundrel Krasilnikov, became a teacher. She doesn't know that Roshchin is alive and trying to find her... Dasha, Telegin, Latugin, Katya, Roshchin, Chugai—in short, all those who came the hard way to accept the revolution—meet at the 8th Congress of Soviets at the Bolshoi Theater in 1919.
